City Fresh, in partnership with ProducePerks Midwest, is pleased to offer the Free Shares program for the fifth consecutive year.
In 2025 we enrolled over 100 eligible families for up to 16 weeks of free Family Shares, with a free home delivery option for those who face additional barriers.
To be eligible, you must answer YES to all three of these questions:
- Are you a U.S. citizen or national? OR do you meet one of these citizenship exceptions?
- Is there a child under 18 that lives in your household? OR are you/your partner currently pregnant? OR are you a non-custodial parent of a minor child that also lives in the state of Ohio? Click here for full family definitions.

What do participants receive?
- Almost an entire season’s worth of fresh, local veggies – for free!
- Through the City Fresh Free Shares Program, participants receive up to 16 weeks of farm fresh produce bundles, or “Family Shares”. A “Family Share” is a pre-determined bundle of local produce. It usually consists of 11-14 different items, all seasonal fruits and vegetables.
- Farm produce can often look and taste different than supermarket produce. There may be items you have never seen before or don’t know how to use. We send out a newsletter via e-mail every Friday which has share contents listed and recipe ideas.
- The option for free home delivery for those who face additional barriers.
- We encourage participants to pick up their share at one of our neighborhood pickup locations, or “Fresh Stops”. However, we recognize that participants may be facing barriers related to transportation, scheduling, childcare, or disability. For these cases, we offer free home delivery. Delivery is ONLY available for participants of the Free Shares Program.
How do I sign up?
The Free Shares program is very limited and fills up quickly. To see if you may be eligible, and to join the waitlist for this or a future year’s program, fill out the form below. If you are not able to get a spot this year, we invite you to explore our other options to affordably participate in our program, including using your SNAP/EBT.
What if I don't qualify for this program?
The City Fresh farm box program is for everybody! We focus on ensuring our program is accessible and affordable for everyone. We offer:

- We accept SNAP/EBT
- Flexible week-to-week ordering
