Join more than a thousand families across north east Ohio by participating with our not-for-profit CSA.  In 2011 we sold more than 13,000 shares in total, generating more than $160,000 for local, small farmers and their families.

City Fresh runs 20 weeks from Early June into late October. We are the only CSA in North East Ohio with no waiting lists and no minimum commitments.

The City Fresh 2012 Season is almost here. We are currently working to finalize our list of Fresh Stop locations for Cuyahoga, Lorain, and ALL NEW, Erie County. Due to funding, Summit County City Fresh will not be returning for the 2012 Season. We hope to return to Summit in 2013.

Before the Season begins download the order form and mail with your payment to our PO Box listed at the top of the form. It must be postmarked no less than 10 days prior to pick up to guarantee delivery. Limited income shares are available!

ONCE THE SEASON BEGINS, ALL SHAREHOLDERS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO PLACE YOUR ORDER AT YOUR LOCAL FRESH STOP AND NOT THROUGH THE MAIL. Mailing in to the PO Box during season can result in unexpected delays.

2012 Share Prices:

Family Share (for 3-4 people): $28
      Limited Income Family: $16
Single Share (for 1-2 people): $15
      Limited Income Singe: $9

City Fresh proudly accepts cash, check, and Ohio Direction Card.

HOW DOES CITY FRESH WORK?

City Fresh is a not-for-profit CSA, or community supported agriculture program. Our customers act as shareholders, purchasing in advance a share of the produce from over 20 local, small farms within 70 miles of your neighborhood.

We bring the produce to nearly 20 Fresh Stop markets in Cuyahoga, Erie, and Lorain Counties each week, and shareholders pick up their produce from their preferred Fresh Stop location.

All Fresh Stop markets are entirely run by volunteers, and City Fresh is the only CSA which operates in the urban core and in other areas which are predominantly low-income. We are also the only CSA that offers a limited income share price, the only to offer week-to-week ordering without additional fees, and the only to accept the Ohio Direction Card.

Each week, we take your order and work with the farmers to create the most well-balanced, healthy, and nutrient-dense share of what is in-season. A single share typically includes 8-10 items including greens, fruits, familiar vegetables, root crops, an herb, and something unique for your to experiment with. Family Shares typically include more of each item that is in the single share, plus we often include a few higher-priced items that we could not work into the budget of the single share.

When you arrive at the Fresh Stop, you will sign in at the front table and will be asked if you wish to pay for your next week's order. From there, the produce will be laid out on several tables and a list will be posted informing you what is in your share this week. You can then select your produce as you walk down the line of tables. Volunteers will be handy to help you with any questions about preperation you might have, or help you deal with good selection.

Quality Control happens three times before the food is laid out onto the tables at your Fresh Stop: once by the farmers in the field, once again when the produce is washed and packed to be placed on our veggie truck, and once again by the volunteers at the Fresh Stop before we open to the shareholders. Rarely, a piece of produce gets through that will not be to your standards. We are happy to replace such items the following week if you call or make arrangements via email with City Fresh Staff.

A final note - bags will not be provided for you to carry your produce at the Fresh Stop. Some Fresh Stops sell handmade bags, but you are encouraged to bring your own reusable shopping bags. 2 medium to large bags for a single share and 3 or more for a family share is recommended.

Week-to-Week vs Full-Season Shares:

One of the unique features of the City Fresh CSA model is that we allow you to purchase your share on a week to week basis, rather than requiring you to make a large investment of several hundred dollars at the beginning of the growing season. However, if you are in a position to purchase a full-season share, or multiple weeks at a time, please know that your advance order will greatly help us fulfill our mission and expand our ability to bring quality produce into urban food deserts where fresh food is needed and appreciated most. We are happy to adjust your multi-week order for any vacations or other difficulties in getting to the Fresh Stop prior to delivery of the produce.

Full Season Family Price: $560
